I can’t believe it! I won a Strider Running Bike in a drawing at 5 Minutes for Mom!
You have to understand . . . I’m not the “lucky” one . . . I’m the one who cut my finger open on the tuna can tonight, making a casserole for dinner. And then, after my husband and I “tag-teamed” getting two loaves of banana bread in the oven while putting the kids to bed, I found 2-1/2 sticks of melted butter in the microwave . . . I looked at the butter. . . . I looked at the banana bread–now rock-solid in the oven. Needless to say, we had to start over.
So I get super-excited when things like this happen!
Daniel came into the kitchen where I was working and asked, “Have you seen the comments on your blog lately?” (He knew how excited I would be!)
Ummmm, no.
So we read it together: A comment from Susan at 5MinutesforMom, to let me know we won!
That made my day!
We decided to go with a gender-neutral color, so all of our kids can use the bike.
Of those options, we asked Mara to pick a color: Blue, red, yellow, orange, or green.
And she said, “Ummmm, PINK!”
“No, Mara,” Daniel said, “That’s not one of the choices.” He listed them again, and she still wanted pink. “Pink is for ‘derls!” she said emphatically.
Then Mara said, “Blue is for boys!” so even though Daniel said he liked primary colors best, we ruled out blue. Of the choices we gave her, Mara finally offered “green,” and Daniel said the green bike made him think of puke. Okay, well, then why did you give her green as an option? (Green was my first choice.)
Who knew the color choice could be so complicated?! But with three opinionated Type A’s in the same house, I shouldn’t be surprised.
Finally we agreed on red . . . It is a primary color. It’s not “for boys.” It’s not “for derls.” And, best of all, it doesn’t make Daniel think of puke.
So Mara will be getting a Strider bike for her birthday this year! But shhhhh! She doesn’t know she’s getting a bike! We just told her she was just picking a color!
That’s so awesome! Yesterday I got my back mail read–from the last month, I’m sorry to say. ( It’s so handy to just put it in that little basket and pull out the bills and “must pays” and leave everything else in it.) Anyway, I entered two sweepstakes because Micah won the shoes. After all, God blesses in many ways. Look at that giant TV He gave us. I’m very happy for Mara–and I won’t tell!
Fun! 🙂
