Mara loves to “write” books, and I often joke that she should write a blog, since she’s a much more prolific writer than I.
Lately she has been telling me that she wants to be an artist. At least now her ambitions are something that she could potentially go to school and learn how to do (not like the past couple of years: “when I grow up, I’m going to be a princess!”)
She wrote a book this week about a girl named Lily.
She is also into writing “poems” lately. Although they are mostly just rhymes, not poems, since often the words are included merely for their rhyming qualities with no connection whatsoever to the storyline.
Later we realized that she didn’t color Lily’s face in this one. But when she colored it, you couldn’t see the ‘wink.’ So I just left this picture in.
I’m going to try to post more of her “books” soon. . . and we’ll see who posts more often? Mommy? or Mara?
Great job, Mara & Mommy!!!
Hi. I’m new here. You visited my blog the other night, and left some very lovely comments. I’ve been meaning to come visit you since then, but kids…you know. I’m rarely on the computer, and mostly do stuff from my phone. Anyway, back to the point, we’ve got an artist too. Who draws on everything, despite our repeated pleas to only draw on paper, and despite the fact that we HAVE AN EASEL, with a fat roll of newsprint to draw on. Ahem. Goodness, I love that child. Do you have suggestions for encouraging the drawing/colouring thing, while discouraging the drawing/colouring on walls/furniture/siblings/clothing thing? Great to ‘meet’ you, I’ll try to catch up on some of your posts, except …kids. 🙂
