Naturally

This picture wasn’t posed–you can tell, because McCheyne’s hair is in his eyes! 🙂

David loves the dogs! If I’m holding him and one of the puppies walks past, he gets so excited, waving his arms and kicking his legs. So it was pretty exciting for him to get to sit right next to McCheyne and even pet him!

I jumped up and grabbed my camera. This was the only shot I got before the moment passed.

Almost Two. . .

My baby girl is almost two! . . .

Mara has started asking me what kind of cupcakes Carissa will have for her birthday, and I’m realizing her birthday is just a couple weeks away.

She has started climbing out of her crib. Mara stayed in her crib till she was three years old, Micah only about 18 months. . . I had hoped maybe Rissy’s “crib days” would last longer, but now that she can get out and now that she has kept herself “dry” every night for an entire week. . . well, here we are again, moving on up!
Tonight is the night she starts learning not to fall off her bed. Twice already she’s fallen off–I have pillows on the hardwoods, but I still hate to hear the “thump” and my little girl crying. . . Just two years ago I was almost full-term and wondering when she would come! What a joy she has been! Can it really be two years?! It goes by too fast. WAY too fast!

Wuv ’em So Much, My Valentines

Our Valentines Day didn’t work out as I had initially planned (between sickness, potty training, etc.) and Mara told me it was “the worst Valentines Day ever!” (Such a drama queen!)

So over the weekend, I blew up the heart-shaped balloons I had for them. Rissa’s popped right away, and she cried. Many many tears.

I had said “Just one for each child,” but I don’t think Micah remembered. He felt so bad for her.

He ran to the kitchen, got a new balloon and ran back to us, telling her, “It’s okay. You can have another one!”

So I relented and blew up another one for my little girl, who hugged her balloon and cooed, “Oh, balloooon! . . . Wuv you soo much!”

To me, she added, “I care-ful!” and walked around the house, with more balloon hugs, saying, “Oh my heart! . . . Wuv you soo much!”

This week. . .

This week. . .

Carissa  learned how to climb out of her crib

David – first tooth, with the second right under the gum

Me – sore throat; migraine; stuffy nose, head; achey; ears; feeling like someone is boring a hole in my head!!

It was also “Potty Training Party Week,” with Micah and Carissa potty training. I’m happy to report Micah potty trained in one morning–not a single accident, day or night! What a victory that was. And what an encouragement with so several little ones in diapers. Carissa did well, with accidents, I believe three nights. But she drinks sooo much water and is so thirsty because of her allergies and her “mouth-breathing.”

Then sickness. . .

Me, reading the thermometer: 102.4
Mara, 5, drowsy and sick: Do you have. . . any idea what could be causing this?
Me: I wish I knew, Mara. What a crazy winter!!

First Tooth!

Can you see it? Davey’s first little tooth appeared on February 15 after nearly three months of nearly-constant drooling! So happy for my little guy!

(On a related note, taking a picture of a brand-new tooth is more difficult than it may seem. The baby runs his tongue back and forth across his new tooth, sucks on his fingers, babbles “da da da da”–all the while bouncing in the jumperoo!)
